Description

A book dedicated to the racing career of the famous Mantua driver, featuring photographs of the most beautiful cars he raced on the most important circuits. This is the latest literary work by writer and journalist Gianni Tomazzoni; it required over a year of research in the historical archives of motor racing. Luigi Moreschi, from Quingentole (Mantua), born in 1947, made his racing debut at just seventeen, participating in the trials of the Trofeo Lumezzane Coppa Cantoni hillclimb race on September 5, 1965, without a license and wearing a helmet and goggles to avoid being recognized. He did so in his own Austin Healey, entered for the occasion and for obvious reasons by his friend Flavio Giosuè, a driver who would later appear in the race's official rankings. This first "clandestine" experience would be the spark that ignited Luigi Moreschi's passion, and with this premise begins the wonderful tale of this book, which collects the secrets of an inimitable career, always conducted at speeds of 300 km/h. More than five hundred races contested in over four hundred different cars, six participations in the Targa Florio, and twenty-nine appearances in the World Championship for Makes, held on the most famous circuits and against highly respected opponents, he won two Tours of Umbria and achieved an endless series of overall victories in hillclimbs and track races with both modern and historic cars, Luigi Moreschi's second true passion. And indeed, at the dawn of the 1990s, Moreschi Motorsport was founded in Quingentole, a company specializing in restorations and specific preparations dedicated to the world of veteran racing cars. Osella, Abarth, March, Chevron, BMW, Ford, Bizzarrini, Dallara, Lola, Porsche, and AMS are just some of the most iconic brands among those treated in the Mantua workshop, where Luigi's experience gained over many years of racing is made available to his driver-client friends. Since 2016, he has also been vice president of the Tazio Nuvolari Italia team.
